Italian-style pizza has become one of the best-selling pizza chains in the world, with a total of more than 200 locations in the United States, according to a new study by market research firm Zelman.
The pizza chain, which opened its first store in Los Angeles in 2004, now has more than 6,000 locations in 13 states and is expected to expand to as many as 12,000 by the end of the year, Zelman said.
The Pizza Hut chain is also the largest restaurant chain in the U.S., with 1,977 locations.
